Hi... if you're comfortable writing/blogging about personal finance and money/life issues in general then I might have some freelance work for you. I'm managing editor at MainStreet.com and we're always looking for interesting stories about the intersection of life and money... job stories, retirement stories, budget, banking... etc. Ideally these stories will have a solid news hook, very catchy headline and/or and really compelling human interest angle. Bottom line, they've got to be INTERESTING.
One story which I'd love for someone to pitch to me is inspired by the fact that every time I go grocery shopping I see someone who is retirement age stocking shelves. I'd really like to profile a retired individual who was on a fixed income, lost a portion of their income due to the economic slowdown, and was forced to take a job stocking shelves or the like to get by. There's got to be something more to it, though... something that pulls at the heart strings.
The story would be between 500-600 words and we can discuss the rate when you pitch me.
Email me at work -- michael.schreiber@thestreet.com -- if you're interested.
Thanks,
Mike
